Why S.M.A.S.H. Kids?
For us, Sensory means using all
SIX senses. We will be hearing, seeing,
smelling, tasting, touching and singing our way through the world of
Music, Art and Science!
The study of Music at any age sets a
foundation for learning in all arenas.
Plato said “I would teach children music, physics and philosophy; but
most importantly music, for the patterns in music and all the arts are the keys
to learning.” This class is 70% music
and movement! Art and science are
integrated in a way that compliments each music lesson and lays a groundwork
for more advanced concepts. These
elements really do work together in perfect harmony and the kids will be having
so much fun, they won’t even realize they are learning!
Art allows us to really
dig in with our hands, get a little messy and tap into our creative
energy. Each personality shines uniquely
when children are put to the task of creating an art project, and given the
freedom to express themselves through a variety of mediums. We can have 12 kids in the room and 12
completely different masterpieces! OH
JOY!
Kids are fascinated by their world. Science is in everything
around us and at S.M.A.S.H. Kids we love to help kids make that connection! We will be exploring science in the kitchen
and in nature, combining common ingredients to create big reactions, and
setting foundations for more complicated ideas like polymers and what makes hot
air rise.
